1. 왜 'on'을 쓸까? (The Logic)

영어에서 on은 기본적으로 '표면(surface)'에 접촉해 있을 때 사용합니다.

• TV, 스마트폰, 컴퓨터 화면: 우리가 보는 콘텐츠는 물리적으로 '화면 위'에 나타나죠? 그래서 전자기기 화면을 매개로 하는 모든 서비스는 on을 사용하게 되었습니다.
• 방송/통신: 전통적으로 라디오(on the radio)나 TV(on TV) 방송도 신호가 '선(line)'이나 '파동' 위에 실려 온다는 개념에서 on을 써왔고, 그 개념이 현대의 스트리밍 서비스로 이어진 것입니다.

2. 어떤 서비스에 'on'을 붙일까?

질문하신 것처럼 거의 모든 소셜 미디어나 스트리밍 서비스에는 on이 찰떡궁합입니다.

3. 예외: 'in'을 쓰는 경우도 있을까?

대부분의 온라인 플랫폼은 on이지만, 특정 '애플리케이션' 자체나 '메시지' 안을 강조할 때는 in을 쓰기도 합니다.

• in the app: "그 기능은 **앱 안(in)**에 있어." (소프트웨어라는 틀 안을 강조)
• in a video: "그 장면은 **영상 속(in)**에 나와."
• in an email: "그 내용은 **이메일(in)**에 적어놨어."

 

Kilig(킬리그)

- 필리핀 타갈로그어로, 로맨틱한 상황에서 느끼는 짜릿함, 설렘, 흥분을 뜻하는 말입니다. (Gemini said)

- kilig means butterflies in my stomach -> 긴장이 될만큼 설렌다는 의미 인듯

 

I got kilig whenever I see her.

The drama gave me so much kilig.

I don't feel any kilig in my life.

 

=> 신기한 단어인듯 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Bias

아래는 BTS 팬이었던 시절 얘기에서 나온 문장..

As I get old, I slowly lost feeling about them.

-> bias가 최애 라는 뜻임. 원래 편향 이라는 의미만 알았는데  신기함

이거 배우고 kpop 유튭 video 봤는데 bias 진짜 쓰더라 

(예문)

I was a fan of BTS and my bias was Jimin.

But as I get old, I slowly lost that kilig feeling for BTS. / I slowly lost interest in BTS.

Anyway, I know many BTS' old songs.

-> 원래 BTS's로 썼다가 제미나이가 고쳐줌. 설명: s로 끝나는 이름의 소유격은 **BTS'**처럼 쓰기도 하며, 셀 수 있는 노래는 many를 쓰면 더 세련되어 보입니다.

 

Plural

singular / plural

-> singular는 이미 베스킨라빈스에서 1개라는 거 알았는데

plural은 '복수의' 라는 뜻임

[단어 배우기]

close friend is like best friend and very friendly friend.

coworker is someone who works with me

acquaintance is someone whom I know. / is someone who I know.

classmate is someone who takes the same class with me. (in the same class as you)

roomate is someone who lives in the same room with me. (shares an apartment with you)

stranger is a person who I don't know.

mutual friend is a frined whom I and another person are familiar with. (It is also correct that We(three people) are all friends.)

relative is a person who is one of my legal family. (is connected to you by blood)

 

=> 여기서 mutual friend는 처음 본 것 같다.
